In honour of father’s day this Sunday (19th June), we take a look at showbiz fathers who have passed on their star quality to their offspring. Some have even gone on to become even more famous than their celebrity dads!
There’s no doubt about the parentage here. Star of hits such as The Lost Boys and 24, Kiefer Sutherland is the spitting image of his Hollywood legend father Donald. They are pictured here with lesser-known sibling Rossif.
The actress and humanitarian have a famously tempestuous relationship with her actor father. Periods of estrangement included Voight’s notable absence from Jolie’s wedding to Brad Pitt in 2014.
Daughter of “ol blue eyes” himself, Nancy had big shoes to fill. She certainly made a good attempt with her 1966 hit “These Boots are Made for Walkin”. Art imitated life in the film Marriage on the Rocks where Frank and Nancy Sinatra played a fictional father and daughter.
Liv only found out at the age of 8 that Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler was her biological father. She is quoted as saying, “I kind of figured it out because he looked exactly like me and I have a sister named Mia who is a year younger than me and I saw her standing at the side of the stage at a concert and I was literally like looking at my twin”.
The son of this 70’s Spanish crooner, set a new generation of hearts a-flutter when he followed in his father’s footsteps to become a successful singer. Enrique’s chart hits include “Hero” and “Escape”.
Undoubtedly Hollywood royalty, these father and son actors have notched up an impressive filmography between them. Douglas senior starred in such movies as Spartacus and Paths of Glory while his junior is known for his roles in The Game and Basic Instinct.
Starwars super-baddy Darth Vader delivered the shocker moment of the original trilogy in The Empire Strikes Back when he rasped the news to his son with the immortal line “I am your father”.
Andy Murray, tennis champ
Nick Carter, former Back Street Boy
Prince Carl Philip of Sweden
Joseph Gordon-Levitt, actor
Louis Tomlinson, One Direction star
Michael Phelps, swimmer
Who knows, maybe someday we’ll be reading about their kiddies in a blog about famous fathers and their equally famous offspring!
