IPSE Freelancer Awards scheme returns for 2015

Self-employed people are being encouraged to submit their nominations for the IPSE Freelancer Awards, which is being held in 2015 for a second consecutive year.

Organised by the Association of Independent Professionals and the Self Employed (IPSE), the nationwide competition encourages freelance workers to put forward a case for why they are outstanding examples of ambition and enterprise, in the hopes of attaining national recognition and financial reward.

Entries will be accepted until September 1st 2015, at which point an expert panel of judges will sift through the entrants and pick out 15 outstanding finalists, who will be invited to London to pitch themselves and their businesses to the panel in person.

They will then attend the IPSE Freelancer Awards ceremony in London on November 12th as guests of honour, with ten of the finalists to be eligible for the Inspire Award, which recognises individuals who can demonstrate high levels of talent, work ethic and success.

An overall winner will be selected to receive £5,000 to put towards the growth of their business, with runner-up prizes of £2,500 to be provided to two others. All three winners will also be given expert media and presentation training, plus a business support and technology bundle worth thousands.

Meanwhile, the remaining five finalists, who will be under the age of 23, will compete for the Aspire Award, with the winner to receive a £3,000 investment, plus all of the aforementioned perks.

All 15 finalists from both categories will receive a host of technology prizes and business support, regardless of whether they go on to win overall.

A statement from the organisation said: “With over 4.5 million young and experienced men and women making the brave choice to work for themselves, self-employment in the UK is more colourful, diverse and important to the economy than ever before. And here at IPSE, we believe this is something worth celebrating.”
