What can contractors expect from the new government

The dust has now settled on the rather surprising result from this year’s General Election.  With the Conservatives sweeping to an overall majority, they now face limited opposition when it comes to passing their policies through Parliament.

We already know that there will be a referendum before 2017 on whether to remain in the EU, but nothing was spoken in the hullabaloo in the run up to voting day about IR35, although we did hear from the Chancellor’s Autumn Statement about plans to simplify the tax system. However, little else is known about what is planned by the Tories when it comes to the self-employed, contractors and freelancers, who now make up a 12 million strong voice? We’ve put together this infographic to showcase from their manifesto some of the policies which will likely impact at some point over the course of the next 5 years.
